I’m Masy Chighizola and this is Press Relief.

When I was eight years old, I wrote in my school journal that I wanted to become an artist and have been pursuing that dream since. The pursuit to find my true path in art wasn't a straight one, but I found my passion in printmaking when I was introduced to linoleum relief in college. In 2013, I received my BFA with a focus in Printmaking from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. In May of 2017, I received my MFA from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There, I had an assistantship in Printmaking where I taught 2D Design and Intro to Printmaking. Though I enjoyed teaching, I've always had a business mind set and am interested in pushing the limits of my medium in a way that is accessible to a variety of people.

My specialty is linoleum relief printmaking. The entire process is manual: I design on paper, transfer the image onto linoleum blocks, carve, ink, and print on a press. My designs are inspired by a gumbo of things. Being from Louisiana, you will see some of my culture’s flare, but you will also see my love for the decorative arts.

Continuing the studies from my MFA thesis, my fine art work is inspired by the things that we as individuals collect and how they become a representation of us.

My other line of work is pushing wearable art and finding ways to turn my linocuts into one of a kind accessories for you.

Thank you for taking the time to view my work, and to support small businesses and artists. If you have any questions or inquiries about myself or my work, please don't hesitate to send me an email at pressreliefprints@gmail.com.
